The problem

What we were actually solving

Angel was losing pitches to weaker developers with better websites. The engineering was excellent and the presentation of it was a template with three screenshots and a contact form.

The approach

How the work was made

We led with proof rather than personality. Each project page opens with the problem and the measurable outcome, and only then shows the interface, because clients hire for outcomes and browse for pictures.

The design language is severe on purpose: near-black, one weight of one typeface, generous negative space, and photography reserved exclusively for project heroes. It signals restraint, which is what you want a technical hire to signal.

Built in Next.js with a flat-file content model, so Angel adds a project by writing one file and pushing. No CMS to maintain, no monthly fee, nothing to break in eighteen months.

The outcome

Angel reports a marked change in the quality of inbound enquiries and now converts a majority of first conversations into scoped proposals.
